Manchester United are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window.
According to a report by files, the Red Devils have now joined the pursuit of the 23-year-old winger along with Leeds United and Southampton. They consider the possibility of making a move when the window opens again.
Gakpo was linked with a move to Leeds during the summer transfer window, but the move failed to materialize in the end. The player has had an impressive season so far and he scored 13 goals and made 14 assists in all competitions.

Leeds agreed with the player and offered more than Southampton, but PSV refused, and Van Gaal suggested the player stay until the World Cup.

It’s no secret that Manchester United need to add more quality to the final third. Gakpo could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.
The 23-year-old operates as a left-back and his arrival will give Erik ten Hag more options to work with. The Manchester United manager has sometimes used Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in the left-wing position, but it has not given satisfactory results.

Sancho is still struggling to reach top form as his move from Borussia Dortmund and United could certainly use more competition in this area.
Additionally, Gakpo would allow Rashford to operate as a full-time number nine.
The PSV Eindhoven striker will add creativity and goals to Manchester United’s attack. He hasn’t reached his peak yet and is likely to get even better with training and experience. If Manchester United can sign him for a reasonable price in January, it could turn out to be a masterstroke in the long run.
