Liverpool would pull off a “huge coup” by signing Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount for Jürgen Klopp’s side, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The 23-year-old is currently in Qatar on World Cup duty with the Three Lions.

What’s the latest on the Mount?
According to The Telegraph , Mount’s contract talks with Chelsea have stalled, and the midfielder is ready to demand a £300,000-a-week deal, with the academy graduate’s current deal expiring in 2024.
Reports in The Guardian suggest both Liverpool and Juventus are keeping an eye on the Stamford Bridge star, although the Blues hierarchy are still believed to be confident the forward-minded midfielder will commit his future to the club shortly.
The same outlet also suggest that Mount is currently one of the lowest earners (£75,000-a-week) in the squad and would like a deal that reflects his contribution to the club since becoming a regular for the west London side at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign.
And O’Rourke believes it would be a “massive shock” if Mount is unable to agree a new deal at Chelsea and moves to Anfield.
What has O’Rourke said about Mount?
O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “It would be a massive coup. Mason Mount has been the best player in the Premier League for the last few seasons with Chelsea.
“I think it would be a huge shock if Chelsea didn’t agree a new deal with Mason Mount.”

Will Mount sign for Liverpool?
While Mount and Chelsea appear to have reached a contract deadlock for now, it would be a surprise if the two sides do not agree a deal at the end of the 34-time England international’s contract at Stamford Bridge.
The former Derby County loanee has scored 32 goals and provided 37 assists in 181 appearances for the Blues, according to Transfermarkt, and it would be a surprise to see the club lose such a critical player to a direct Premier League rival.
However, with the contracts of Naby Keïta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner at the end of the campaign, as well as Arthur Melo’s loan deal expiring, Liverpool may want to move quickly towards a target of big name midfield and Mount can fit that bill.
The Chelsea star would likely get regular game time at Anfield, and if the Reds can meet the demands of his contract, it could be a move the midfielder decides to make in an upcoming transfer window.
While Mount wouldn’t come cheap for Liverpool as Chelsea didn’t want to lose any of their developed talent, this may be a deal Klopp pursues.
