KIERAN TIERNEY has apologised after he was pictured with his middle fingers up to the camera during Arsenal’s FA Cup celebrations.
The former Celtic man starred again as the Gunners sealed their place in the FA Cup final with a 2-0 win over Manchester City.
But he has issued an apology after goalkeeper Emi Martinez posted a snap which showed the defender gesturing to the camera – which has since been deleted.
Taking to Twitter, Tierney said: “Didn’t realise this was getting posted. Was a joke with the Kitman.
“I’m so sorry if it caused anyone offence – wasn’t meant in any way.”
One fan responded to Tierney from his hospital bed, saying: “Let’s just say It was meant for my cancer, mate!
“Brilliant game today, made my night at the hospital.”
And Tierney promised to send the supporter his match shirt as he said: “That’s exactly what it stood for my man! You legend… get in touch I will send you my shirt from tonight. Keep fighting.”
But fans weren’t offended by Tierney’s actions as they hailed the Scotland international for another fantastic performance.
@1886_blog said: “The only thing you should apologise for is being the best left back in English football.”
@HarisonRamon said: “No offense taken at all you bloody warrior.”
And @EduardoHagn said: “That finger is for the haters, KT! World-Class performance lad!”
Mikel Arteta’s side booked their place at the Wembley final after a shock 2-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired the London side in front after 19 minutes.
And he doubled his side’s lead with 20 minutes remaining with Tierney grabbing the assist.
