Arsenal director Edu reveals summer transfer plans with Mikel Arteta getting just ‘one or two’ new signings

ARSENAL manager Mikel Arteta has been promised “one or two” main signings this summer by technical director Edu.

The former midfielder said: “We are going to focus on signing one or two players.

“After last summer revolution, we need the next step.

“We have our strategy ready.

“Our planning has already been done, it has already reached the owners.

“It’s a matter of step by step, how we are going to finish the season and put the plan in place that I’m very excited about.”

There was no comment on whether the deal to lure Gabriel Jesus was one of the signings already agreed with the owners.

The 25-year-old Brazilian ace has just over 16 months remaining on his current contract at the Etihad and the champions may have to cash in.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are poised to depart when their contracts expire at the end of the campaign.

And boss Arteta is desperate to bolster his attack, and is claimed to have identified the Jesus as a potential option in the upcoming transfer window.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was allowed to join Barcelona earlier this year as he fell out with the Spanish gaffer.
