DESPITE Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang yet to sort out his future and no major new signings, Arsenal may well have done their best bit of business this year already.
Bukayo Saka signing a new long-term contract at the Emirates in the week is a bigger coup for his club than it is for the player himself.
Bukayo Saka scored his first Premier League goal in the 2-0 win for Arsenal over Wolves
We have heard it time and time before, but this lad is going to be something special. Scrap that, he already is.
With a year remaining on his previous deal and performances to get people taking notice, plenty of big clubs would no doubt have sniffed around offering the big bucks for his signature.
But Saka, 18, wanted to stay, he loves Arsenal and if he wasn’t the one on the pitch tearing up Premier League defences, he would no doubt have been cheering on a Gunners academy graduate cutting it with the big boys.
And not just cutting it, but showing them up – Saka has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season since breaking through from the youth set-up.
His excellent finish at Wolves proved to be the winner – with Alexandre Lacazette adding a second late on – as he showed class and maturity in equal measure.
As Kieran Tierney’s cross deflected across, he read the situation to get into position then kept his head over the ball to guide a fine volley into the net with fine technique.

Saka may not have been too involved throughout the match – he made eight successful passes and Eddie Nketiah was the only Arsenal starter to have fewer touches than his 28 – but he did what the very best do.
With one shot in his 76 minutes on the pitch, he made it count and found the back of the net to set his side on their way to a crucial three points on the road.
A fourth senior goal, a first Premier League strike and surely plenty more to come – wherever he plays.
And that is another of the best bits about the teenager: his versatility.
Whether it be in central midfield, left-back, left wing or right wing as it was at Molineux tonight, he looks equally comfortable.
Carry on like this and the postponement of Euro 2020 could prove to be a blessing in disguise for Saka, offering Gareth Southgate plenty of quality in a number of areas.
A bumper new contract at his beloved boyhood club and a winning goal in the Premier League – he won’t forget the first week of July 2020 in a hurry.
Not bad for an 18-year-old…
The versatile youngster displayed excellent technique to open the scoring with a smart volley at Molineux
Saka has showed up plenty of his big-earning team-mates with his performances this season
