Luton Town are well placed to sign Aston Villa defender James Bree this week, Football Insider can reveal.
This site broke the news last week that the Championship club are in “advanced talks” to land their 2019-20 loan star on a permanent deal.
A Villa source has told Football Insider that negotiations are progressing and Luton have tabled a “seven-figure bid” for the versatile right-back.
The 22-year-old has been given the green light to leave the Midlands giants by Dean Smith amid speculation Villa could sign a new right-back.
Villa are unlikely to recoup the £3million paid to sign Bree from boyhood club Barnsley in January 2017.
He has entered the final year of his contract, which expires next summer, and has not played for his parent club for two seasons.
