Chelsea are expecting to miss out on their top goalkeeper target Dean Henderson after Man United made a breakthrough in contract talks, Football Insider has learned.
This site broke the news last month that the London giants were trying to lure the Sheffield United loan star from Old Trafford.
A Chelsea source has told Football Insider that manager Frank Lampard is getting frustrated in his pursuit of Henderson.
United do not want to sell the 23-year-old to a top-four and potential title rival.
They are instead working to tie Henderson to a new long-term deal to replace his current contract, which expires in 2022.
As Football Insider revealed yesterday, discussions are at an advanced stage following a breakthrough in the last 24 hours.

If, as is now likely, an agreement is reached and Henderson puts pen to paper, Chelsea will be forced to turn to alternative keeper targets.
The Champions League last-16 side have set their sights on Henderson as they look to recruit a new number one to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.
His form for Chris Wilder’s side during two impressive seasons on loan has placed him on the verge of an England call-up and led to suggestions he may displace Jordan Pickford as the national team’s number one.
He may still go out on loan again next season as David De Gea is the long-established United number one, with impressive Argentine Sergio Romero providing quality back-up.
Henderson has yet to play for his parent club while his price tag has rocketed beyond the £40m mark.
In other Chelsea news, it can be REVEALED that senior stars are furious with Frank Lampard behind the scenes.
