In today’s random rumour, Chelsea are said to have ‘made an opening bid’ for Crystal Palace winger and Hammersmith’s own Michael Olise, who of course spent several years at the Chelsea Academy also a while back (ages 8-14) before moving up to Reading’s youth system a few years ago.
The 21-year-old has developed into a starring role at Crystal Palace over the past two seasons, where he still has three years left on his contract. However, this contract may or may not have a release clause, possibly around £35m. Chelsea’s offer, according to RMC Sport, is “under €45m” (£39m), so it’s right on the ball.

Chelsea are not alone in sniffing out Olise, with Manchester City also on the prowl. I’m not sure either team needs a £35m winger at the moment, but if we start asking those questions, Fabrizio Romano’s secret agents might come knocking on our door, so we won’t.
