Crystal Palace have set their sights on signing Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele after their bid for QPR star Eberechi Eze was rejected, Football Insider understands.
The Eagles had tabled a £12million offer for the Hoops’ attacking ace but the Championship side wants more money if they are to sell the 22-year-old.
A source at Selhurst Park has told Football Insider that Palace have now turned their attentions to 23-year-old Dembele and that scouts regard the Posh star as “the next Wilfried Zaha”.
The comparison with the current Crystal Palace star comes from Dembele’s love of dribbling with the ball and running at defenders, as well as his impressive turn of pace.
The Peterborough talent was a standout performer for the Posh during the second half of last season and built up a formidable partnership with striker Ivan Toney in attack.
A versatile winger who can operate on either flank, he showed outstanding form following the turn of the year as he managed to contribute seven assists in eight games and also chip in with four goals of his own.
