Bayern Munich are unlikely to part ways with Leroy Sané, but some reports suggest the Germany international would agree to an exit for the Rekordmeister.
It looks very doubtful and we saw on Monday that Liverpool could be among those interested. Now, we can add Arsenal FC to the list, even if most of us think there is very little chance that Bayern Munich will be willing to sell the talented striker:
Arsenal are among a group of clubs to inquire about Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane and a report has revealed his and the club’s feelings on a shock exit.
The signing of Sane from Man City in 2020 was seen as a major coup for Bayern Munich. The lively winger was and remains one of Germany’s top stars and bringing him back to the Bundesliga was an impressive feat.
His deal could cost 60 million euros pending the activation of future add-ons. Then 24, many believed Sane would be a mainstay in Bavaria in a similar fashion to Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben before him.
Sane, of course, will miss Germany’s match against Japan due to a knee injury.
At one point, Bayern Munich star Sadio Mané almost went to Manchester United:
Sadio Mane may not be playing at the 2022 World Cup, but that hasn’t stopped former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal from revisiting the moment he tried to bring the Ballon d’Or runner-up to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal, who managed United between 2014 and 2016, is preparing for his swansong as Netherlands boss. His side will begin their World Cup campaign against a Senegal side bereft of star man Mane, with the striker ruled out of the tournament after picking up an injury playing for Bayern Munich.
Mane himself has spoken of how he came close to joining the Manchester club, only for Liverpool to beat them to the max. The situation was raised again before the game in Qatar, and Van Gaal reiterated his stance.
“I wanted him when I was Man Utd manager,” Van Gaal said before the opener. “I chased him at the time. I’m a fan of Mane. He can open a game and I’d say Senegal will miss him.”
Beth Mead is arguably England’s best player and suffered a terrible knee injury (yes, another ACL injury for the star footballer) that will likely keep her out of next summer’s Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand:
Fast recovery!
Bayern Munich are rested, but their 17 players (now 16 with Sadio Mane officially on the shelf) who were called up to their international squads for the World Cup certainly aren’t. There will be plenty of activity for the Bayern boys as the Qatar tournament kicks off.
What does it mean? There is still a lot to talk about with both the German national team and Bayern Munich. Predictions, transfer talks, a deep dive into the decision making of a phenomenon and more!
Let’s jump straight in and see what we have in store for this episode:
- A look at Germany’s unconvincing performance against Oman, why it’s not time to panic just yet, and how this could be shaping up pretty quickly.
- A walkthrough of each World Cup group with predictions on who will survive and advance.
- Is Paul Wanner Bayern Munich’s Anakin Skywalker?
- Why the end is near for Benjamin Pavard at Bayern Munich.
- A look back at what to think about Bayern Munich’s first half of the season.
- We’ve got all of that and a little more, as I finally found something (somewhat) good to say about the latest season of The Walking Dead. And yes, I realize I’m probably the only one still watching!
Will Real Madrid’s offer for Benjamin Pavard be 18 million euros? A report thinks like this:
Real Madrid will be ready to invest up to 18 million euros to sign versatile French defender Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.
According to a report from Defensa Central, Real Madrid will be open to paying between 15 and 18 million euros to sign Benjamin Pavard. The versatile French defender could leave Bayern Munich in the 2023 summer transfer window.
The idea that Bayern Munich were fed up with Pavard’s act and sold him in the winter died when Lucas Hernandez suffered a major knee injury against Australia at the World Cup, but Real Madrid feel the Frenchman must have next summer
Maybe I’m overvaluing Pavard, but that figure for Madrid seems very low, regardless of when that offer arrives.
Inter Milan could take a bid for Marcus Thuram very seriously:
Inter will meet the agent of Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram in Qatar to try to secure a deal ahead of Bayern Munich. Thus, according to today’s print edition of the Milan newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, which reports that the Nerazzurri will hold talks with the 25-year-old’s agent about the possibility of a transfer in January.
It’s no secret that Inter are keen on signing Thuram and according to the Gazzetta, signing him in January rather than waiting until he is available on a free transfer next summer has become a key part of your strategy. Bayern are also keen on the Frenchman, and signing him ahead of the German champions could prove difficult, both because of the competitive draft and the wages they could offer.
However, the Nerazzurri are ready to make their move, and will waste no time in starting talks. That’s why Inter are planning to meet with Thuram’s agent in Qatar, where an injury to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema could mean the Gladbach striker has a bigger role in the French national team’s squad in world
Ashton United FC’s social media team made their mark by offering Erling Haaland a place to play during the World Cup break and now they’ve continued to talk about the Cristiano Ronaldo vs Manchester United feud:
I love it.
Well, the 2022 FIFA World Cup is underway and a group of our Bayern Munich boys will start against Japan in the opening match of Group E. Germany have a strong squad and a coach with the credentials to win -everything, but that doesn’t mean everything looks good. Attacking woes, lineup selection headaches, defensive woes and potential injuries threaten to derail this German campaign before it even begins. Can Hansi Flick overcome the odds and come out on top?
In this episode, we discuss the following:
- Why Germany could be in trouble this World Cup.
- Hansi Flick’s lack of space to experiment.
- Why the ‘Bayern Munich formula’ might not be enough.
- Everything that needs to be right for Germany to succeed (and why it probably won’t happen).
- A look at Manuel Neuer’s decision to wear the One Love armband in Qatar (be nice!).
- Ending with a classic INNN monologue about Thomas Müller and his World Cup goalscoring record.
