Erling Haaland has been tipped to score more career goals than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo after making history in the Champions League last night.
Everybody is talking about the Borussia Dortmund striker who continued his stunning form with two goals to guide his club to the quarter-finals with a 5-4 aggregate win over Sevilla.
His double saw the 20-year-old break the record for the fewest games to reach 20 goals in the Champions League, having taken just 14 matches to reach that landmark.
And Germany journalist Raphael Honigstein told talkSPORT the sky’s the limit for this exciting young star, saying he could become one of the game’s greatest ever players.
“He is amazing, he is incredible,” he said on the talkSPORT Breakfast on Wednesday morning.
“Centre-forwards don’t usually come fully formed at the age of 20, scoring more than a goal every game and in a team that isn’t even playing very well. Borussia Dortmund are very inconsistent but he isn’t.
“He is the hottest prospect in world football at the moment, I don’t think you can put it any other way
“If a club gets the chance to get this guy this summer or more likely next, they’d be potentially buying 15 years of goals. You can imagine what kind of price tag that might come with.
“He’s only played 30 months at this level, and he’s only going to get better. If you put him in a better team… I don’t know where this could stop.
“The stats are crazy, if he continues scoring at the same level he will outscore both Ronaldo and Messi, which seems absolutely crazy to contemplate, but he could do it!”
Transfer speculation continues to surround the Norway superstar despite being less than 18 months into his Dortmund career.
He has scored 31 goals in 29 games this season, including 19 Bundesliga goals, and has made himself one of the most coveted talents in world football.
Haaland’s £60million release clause does not become active until 2022, but Dortmund are likely to face transfer interest this summer with figures of £150million talked about.
Manchester United are said to be keen, with the striker having been managed by compatriot Solskjaer at Molde, while Man City are also in the market for a striker and on Tuesday night, his huge price tag was talked about as cheap.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been mentioned as possible destinations.
