Erling Haaland’s father and agent Mino Raiola hold transfer talks with Barcelona over Borussia Dortmund star’s future with Manchester United and Man City in the hunt

Erling Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge, and his agent Mino Raiola have held talks with Barcelona.

Speculation surrounding the future of the Borussia Dortmund star has only grown in recent weeks as we approach the summer.

Man City, Chelsea and Manchester United are among the Premier League teams who have been linked with bidding for his services.

Barcelona are emerging as serious contenders for the Norway wonderkid’s signature.

Spanish publication Sport posted pictures of Alf-Inge Haaland and Mino Raiola arriving in Barcelona.

Their report also claims they were met at the airport by one of Joan Laporta’s staff – who has just been elected as club president.

Raiola and Laporta are said to have a good relationship, but it remains to be seen if Barca have the funds right now.

The Catalan club are in serious debt, with reports earlier this season claiming the figure is around £1billion.

Haaland only joined Dortmund in January 2020, but has already scored 49 goals in 49 games.

He has a release clause in his contract of £68million, but that does not become active until 2022.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the meeting took place and the discussions were positive.

He wrote on Twitter: “The meeting between Mino Raiola, Erling Haaland’s father and Joan Laporta has been positive. It was the first contact to discuss about the new Barcelona project – obviously there’s nothing done or advanced, race will be long as many clubs are involved… Barça are in.

“Mino Raiola will meet/talk also with other top clubs in the next weeks… and Bayern Münich are *not* in the race for this summer. Raiola also met with BVB this week to discuss about the price as Haaland’s clause will be NOT valid in 2021, only in July 2022.”

Borussia Dortmund Michael Zorc sport director confirmed he has met with Mino Raiola.

“Yes, yesterday I spoke to Raiola. We’ve made our intentions very clear”, told SkyDe.

It is thought that Dortmund will not sell Haaland for anything less than £127million (€150m).

talkSPORT’s European football expert Mark Langdon recently revealed the Premier League is Haaland’s most likely destination due to financial problems at Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Langdon said: “He’s very smart and very patient about the moves that he’s already made. He could’ve gone to a bigger league and team than Borussia Dortmund, albeit they are a big one themselves.

“He recognised it was too big a jump to go to a Real Madrid type of team from Salzburg.

“He went to Salzburg, then Dortmund, I reckon he’ll spend another year or so there.

“They’ll get what they need out of him and then he can be on his way for that contract release clause.

“Where will he go? I feel like the Premier League at the moment is the place with the money. I’m looking at Real Madrid and Barcelona and thinking, ‘How could they afford to buy him?’

“If you’re looking at the Premier League and thinking about a team that needs a striker, Manchester City would feel like the obvious choice.

“He’s not a Pep type of player, but I’m sure they could fit him in somewhere.”
