Darren Bent has been left drooling as Everton prepare to offer Abdoulaye Doucoure a big-money contract to sign him from Watford.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England striker insists that the Hornets’ star is “definitely an upgrade” on Carlo Ancelotti’s current midfield options.
As revealed by Football Insider on Friday, the Toffees are offering the 27-year-old a £120,000-a-week contract to convince him to swap Vicarage Road for Goodison Park.
Spotrac report that Yerry Mina and Bernard are the club’s current top earners at £120,000-a-week.
Reports state that Everton have seen an initial bid rejected by Watford but that they are set to launch a second bid shortly.
Bent believes Doucoure has even more to offer than he has already shown in the Premier League and that he would be an improvement on the Toffees’ current midfielders.
