Everton news: Toffees offer Doucoure £120k-a-week to leave Watford

Everton are offering Abdoulaye Doucoure a £120,000-a-week deal as they bid to sign him from Watford this summer, Football Insider understands.

The 27-year-old looks set to leave Vicarage Road following the Hornets’ relegation from the Premier League and the Toffees have reportedly launched a bid for his capture.

A source at Goodison Park has told Football Insider that the club is willing to make the French midfielder one of their highest-paid players in an effort to convince him to move to Merseyside.

Doucoure was an almost ever-present for Watford last season as he missed just one Premier League games as a result of suspension for picking up five yellow cards.

However, his performances in the middle of the park were not enough to keep the Hornets from dropping out of the Premier League and into the Championship.

Reports have stated that Everton have seen their initial bid for the midfielder rejected by Vicarage Road chiefs but that a second offer is set to be tabled in the near future.

It is understood the Toffees are willing to launch Doucoure into the top bracket of earners at Goodison were he to move, with Spotrac reporting that both Bernard and Yerry Mina are already on £120,000-a-week wages.

The Watford man has made 129 Premier League appearances to date, with 17 goals and 12 assists under his belt.

Carlo Ancelotti already has Tom Davies, Fabian Delph, Andre Gomes, Gylfi Sigurdsson and the injured Jean-Phillipe Gbamin as his midfield options on Merseyside.

In other Everton news, clubs have been tipped to be queuing up to sign an attacker set to be sold for a huge loss.
