FRED is open for talks over a new long-term Manchester United deal after a stunning turnaround in form.
The Brazilian midfielder had a miserable start to life at Old Trafford, struggling to adapt to the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has turned it around in recent months, putting in a string of fine performances as United fight for a Champions League spot.
SunSport understands he is now ready to pen an extension at United, with three years left on his £130,000-a-week deal.
He would like a bump-up in wages, allowing with some fresh incentives as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men fight on three fronts.
United hope he can lead them back into the Champions League this season, along with winning the FA Cup and Europe League.
A close source revealed: “There was no doubt to Fred’s ability, but he found it difficult in the beginning.
“He has properly settled now – that includes his young family. He knows he has the full backing of Ole.
“United were happy to hear Fred sees himself here for a long time – things have come full circle.“
Fred was heading for the exit door under old boss Jose Mourinho, having proved a flop following his £54m arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018.
However, he has been revitalised under Solskjaer and his representatives have made it clear he intends to stay for the long haul.
The Brazilian and United boss held a series of chats throughout the early part of the season, to help boost his confidence and improve his form.
The Red Devils are in no rush to hand him a new deal, but talks are expected to take place before the end of the year.
SunSport exclusively revealed how Scott McTominay would sign a new contract late last year until 2025.
The Scotland midfielder’s new deal was confirmed yesterday, which has the option of a further 12-months.
