How Chelsea will line-up against Norwich with Lampard set to ring changes after ‘not forgetting’ Sheff Utd loss

FRANK LAMPARD is set to drop several players after Chelsea’s collapse at Sheffield United on the weekend.

A quick turnaround sees the Blues host Norwich on Tuesday with Olivier Giroud among those pushing for a recall.

Dreadful defending in the defeat at Bramall Lane could see Reece James and Kurt Zouma dropped, although Antonio Rudiger hardly impressed off the bench.

Andreas Christensen was forced off at half-time of the 3-0 loss but Lampard confirmed on Monday that the Dane is fit to feature at the Bridge.

Chelsea have no fresh injury worries but N’Golo Kante will not be risked, particularly with the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United just days away.

Instead, Lampard is set to make a number of tactical changes as the Blues’ top-four aspirations slip away.

Jorginho’s underwhelming introduction to the team on Saturday could see him handed a quick return to the bench while Ross Barkley similarly failed to impress.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek appeared off the bench in the last five Chelsea games and is well-placed to step in, alongside Matteo Kovacic.

A fresh chance for Marcos Alonso at left-back would allow Cesar Azpilicueta to return to the right flank with Giroud set to replace the misfiring Tammy Abraham up top.

Billy Gilmour and Fikayo Tomori remain sidelined for the 8.15pm kick-off.

Following the defeat in Yorkshire, Lampard vowed: “I won’t forget this.

“If you want to be in the Chelsea team and squad and fight for the Premier League, to fight in Europe and to fight for trophies, you have to focus on yourself.

“I would love to have consistency in the back four, or back two or three or whatever you want to call it.

“Unfortunately we have made mistakes. That is the position we are in.”

He added on Monday: “I don’t want to give my starting XI away.

“While I have to consider the freshness of the team, we are trying to get the balance of the side as well.”
