A Champion’s Resurgence

Isco, the once-forgotten Real Madrid legend and five-time Champions League winner, is experiencing an extraordinary career revival. After a challenging period that saw him without a club for five months, the 32-year-old winger is now dazzling at Real Betis, aiming to secure a top-six finish in LaLiga for the team that gave him a second chance.

From Valencia to Victory

Isco’s journey began at Valencia, but it was his move to Malaga in 2011 that marked his breakthrough. His performances caught the eye of Real Madrid, leading to a nine-year stint with the giants where he enjoyed an illustrious spell, winning multiple Champions League and LaLiga titles among other accolades.

End of an Era at Madrid

Despite his success, Isco’s final season at Real Madrid saw limited action, resulting in just 14 LaLiga appearances. Upon the expiration of his contract in June 2022, he left the club, sparking interest from several European teams eager to secure his services.

Sevilla Stint Short-Lived

Sevilla emerged as Isco’s next destination, reuniting him with former Spain and Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui. However, disagreements with transfer chief Monchi, who now works for Aston Villa, led to a brief and tumultuous tenure, culminating in a departure just four months and 19 appearances later.

Rebirth at Real Betis

After a failed transfer to Union Berlin and speculation linking him to Arsenal and Tottenham, Isco made a surprise switch to Sevilla’s rivals, Real Betis. There, he has rediscovered his form, contributing eight goals and five assists in 28 appearances, and racking up an astonishing 19 man of the match awards, including one for his recent scoring performance in a 3-2 win over Almeria.

Isco’s Future Secured

Isco’s contract with Betis, initially set to expire in June 2025, has been extended to 2026 following his impressive run of appearances. Despite this commitment, his contract reportedly contains a release clause valued at a mere £8.6m, a potential bargain for any club looking to attract a player of his caliber.
