Jack Grealish claims Luke Shaw told him ‘you can tell who plays for Man City in England camp’

Jack Grealish claims Manchester rival Luke Shaw told him “you can tell who plays for Man City on the England pitch” because they “always have the ball” in training.

Luke Shaw has told England’s Manchester City players to excel on international duty.

Five players from the Premier League champions are in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, with the Three Lions facing Senegal in their first knockout game on Sunday evening.

Via The Sun, Grealish confirmed that Shaw had told him it was obvious which players play in Pep Guardiola’s side because they “always have the ball”.

“Luke Shaw told me when he comes with England you can tell who the City boys are because we always have the ball,” Grealish said.

‘Is true. I, Phil [Foden]even kyle [Walker] they always want a ball, whether it’s at home, at camp or here.

“At Aston Villa the players would be sitting there with their phones, then at City you’re sitting there and balls are flying around the dressing room.”

Grealish, along with City team-mates Foden, Walker, Kalvin Phillips and John Stones, have all enjoyed World Cup minutes so far.

City are known for dominating games and controlling proceedings, a style Southgate doesn’t always use, but the players are keen to have the ball at their feet.

It is unclear how many of the five players will start England’s game against Senegal, with Stones the only mainstay so far.

Walker started his first game of the tournament against Wales after recovering from injury, while Foden also started for the first time and scored.

Grealish and Phillips, however, have been limited to substitute appearances.
