Leeds news: Micahel Brown expects a busy summer at Elland Road

Michael Brown expects Leeds United to improve in every area and claimed they are trying to strengthen “early” in the window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Whites midfielder delivered his verdict as Leeds step up their interest in Rangers winger Ryan Kent.

The Bears emphatically rejected Leeds’ opening offer worth up to £10million including add-ons but, as reported by Football Insider today, boss Marcelo Bielsa is set to lodge an improved bid for the attacker.

The Argentine delayed joining up with Leeds pre-season tour of Austrailia last summer to watch the 23-year-old play for Liverpool against Bradford in a friendly.

Kent joined Rangers on a permanent deal later that summer after spending the previous season on loan at Ibrox.

Asked by Football Insider whether Kent would improve Bielsa’s options, Brown said: “He’s obviously been impressed but at the moment it doesn’t seem to be gathering pace. Rangers won’t want to part with him.

“Leeds are looking to go early. They’ll want to get as much improvement on the squad as possible.

“They’ve set their intent, they want to do it early. They want good players who have had good seasons.

“We’re talking about a team going up to the Premier League, I’d think he’d look to try and improve in every area possible.

“We’re talking about Bielsa who doesn’t just stand still, he wants to improve.

“In any area, if there’s value and within budget that they can improve, they’ll be trying to do so.

“I remember looking at Sheffield United last year and they wanted to score goals, they certainly did that.

“Leeds United won’t be any different, they’ll want to create from wide areas and try and put pressure early on teams.”

In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can reveal Aston Villa are set to beat the whites and a host of other Premier League sides to an attacker’s signature.
