Leeds United had been in hot pursuit of Liverpool winger Harry Wilson as they eyed a blockbuster summer deal.
But Football Insider has learned that that the potential signing may collapse just as United were manoeuvring into pole position to strike an agreement.
Leeds’ interest in Wilson, 23, stretches back two years to when they were beaten to Derby County to the loan signing of him in the summer of 2018, shortly after Marcelo Bielsa had taken charge.
The United recruitment team had continued to watch Wilson closely, including during his 2019-20 loan at Bournemouth that ended in Premier League relegation.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Bielsa’s interest in the left-footed attacker has cooled in recent days.
Even a price tag of £15million – £10m less than Liverpool were seeking a year ago – has not stopped the Argentine manager go cold.

It could now mean Wilson joining another of his many Premier League suitors this summer.
There is also interest from Southampton as well as Newcastle United and Brighton in the scorer of seven 2019-20 Premier League goals.
As revealed by Football Insider in May, the left-footed attacker was one of Leeds’ top summer targets if they went up.
Significantly, Liverpool have opened the door to Wilson leaving, with the player keen to be at a team where he can play regularly.
At Anfield, where Xherdan Shaqiri was given only a handful of run-outs as Jurgen Klopp’s side cantered to their historic title, the competition for attacking places is intense.
Wilson scored seven goals in 31 Premier League matches for Bournemouth this season after previous free-scoring spells at Derby and Hull City.
He is contracted to Liverpool until 2023 after signing a five-year deal in the summer of 2018.
In other Leeds United news, the club are set to announce THREE new signings after bids accepted.
