Losing Kalvin Phillips will be a “huge blow” for Leeds United despite a positive update on his shoulder injury, according to Michael Brown.
The former Leeds and Tottenham midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he is disappointed to see the homegrown star out of action after a “big couple of weeks” for both club and country.
While Leeds publicly stated the 24-year-old would be out for as long as six weeks, sources have told Football Insider that there is hope he can return for the clash against Arsenal immediately after next month’s international break.
As quoted by Leeds Live at his press conference, Bielsa stated that the six-week timeframe was “incorrect” but did not say whether Phillips would be out for a longer or shorter amount of time.
Brown admits he was looking forward to watching Phillips in the flesh against Aston Villa on Friday and that he will be a big miss regardless of how long he is out.
Brown told Football Insider: “He’s had a big couple of weeks, hasn’t he? He’s been excellent.
