Leeds United news: Mills claims Casilla could look to leave

“He might find it difficult. He might want to go and be number one somewhere, and good luck to him.

“People might say that Meslier is very young, but Dean Henderson and Jordan Pickford were young when they got their chance. Goalkeepers aren’t under the same physical pressures that they once were. Teams aren’t putting balls into the box that often. It’s more about shot stopping and distribution.

“If Meslier can do that well, I’m pretty sure that Bielsa will have faith in him. But you do need a decent, senior back-up option. Whether that’s Kiko Casilla, we’ll see. Leeds might have to bring someone else in.”

Casilla started last season as Bielsa’s number one between the sticks but was displaced in the latter stages of the campaign while serving a lengthy ban for racially abusing Charlton Athletic forward Jonathan Leko.

The 20-year-old Meslier showed good form during his absence, keeping seven clean sheets in 10 appearances and conceding just four goals.
