Leeds United news: Mills tips three signings after Lewis Cook update

Danny Mills would welcome the return of Lewis Cook to Elland Road as Leeds United consider a shock move for the midfielder this summer.

However, the former England international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, has warned Whites that he only expects up to “only three signings maximum”.

Cook left his boyhood club Leeds to join Bournemouth in 2016 for a fee in the region of £6million and has gone on to make 85 appearances for the Cherries.

Football Insider revealed yesterday that Bournemouth, who were last season relegated from the Premier League, have slapped a £15million price tag on the 23-year-old.

It comes after this site revealed earlier in the week that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were keeping close tabs on Cook as they look to bolster their central midfield options.

When asked by Football Insider if he would like to see the England international return to Elland Road, Mills said:

“I would like to see him back at Leeds because he is a quality player.

“His opportunities were pretty limited at Bournemouth. Sometimes it is difficult to come back and they all say ‘never go back’ but on occasion it has worked out for players. He was young when he left Leeds so there is no reason why he couldn’t come back.

“But I am not convinced that Leeds are going to do an awful lot in the transfer market because Bielsa likes a small tight squad. He will not want anybody to leave, that will be very important.

“I think they will add two or three players maximum. I do not think there will be an influx like everybody thought there would be despite all of the money that is now available.”
