Kevin Phillips is “99.9 per cent sure” that Marcelo Bielsa will sign a new contract at Elland Road after the Leeds United squad returned to training today.
The former England international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted that he would “be amazed” if the 65-year-old walked away from the club after their promotion last month.
The Argentine manager was out of contract at the end of the 2019/20 campaign in which he guided Leeds back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
Football Insider revealed last month that the club were set to offer Bielsa a lucrative deal in excess of £100,000-a-week.
Fans still eagerly await an official announcement but can take comfort from the fact that the squad returned to training at Thorp Arch today to begin pre-season with Marcelo Bielsa present.
When asked by Football Insider if the news was a telltale sign that an announcement was imminent, Phillips said: “I am 99.9 per cent sure he will sign.
