Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will be “concerned” if he has to line up with Robin Koch and Pascal Struijk at the heart of his defence against Wolves, according to Kevin Phillips.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former England striker delivered his verdict after the club provided an update on the fitness of Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente.
Leeds confirmed the pair picked up groin injuries while on international duty and Llorente now faces three weeks out while captain Cooper will face a late fitness test ahead of the visit of Wolves but could be out for a fortnight.
Bielsa’s only other senior central defender options are youngster Pascal Struijk and summer signing Robin Koch.
The pair started the Yorkshire giants first Premier League game of the season when they lost 4-3 to Liverpool at Anfield.
Asked by Football Insider whether he expects Struijk and Koch to be given the nod against Wolves, Phillips said: “Yes, I would think so.
