Former Leeds United forward Noel Whelan believes there is no danger that Marcelo Bielsa will not sign a new contract with the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the boyhood Leeds fan was delivering his verdict to the latest update to the Argentine manager’s situation.
Football Insider revealed last week that Bielsa is in advanced talks with Leeds to sign a new contract and that he could pen to paper this week after a breakthrough in discussions.
Bielsa’s demands are thought not to be financial but the 65-year-old wants assurances about the transfer market.
Asked whether he expects the situation to be resolved soon, Whelan told Football Insider: “I don’t think there’s any danger that he’s not going to sign a new contract. Everything will be done in each other’s time. I think there’s a respect there.
“The contract will be sorted out, it’ll be a fair one, there won’t be any haggling about it. It’s just a matter of time. As things sink in, before you know it he’ll have signed it.
