Wolves are keen to blown Leeds United out of the water to sign Sunderland teen ace Daniel Neil, Football Insider understands.
The Midlands giants have joined the race for the 18-year-old midfielder while there is also interest from Newcastle United.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Wolves have made a move to hijack Leeds’ pursuit of the England youth international.
The Yorkshire giants made an approach for the Black Cats ace last month as they hoped to beat rivals to his signature.
They will be wary of the interest from high-flying Wolves, who are well established in the Premier League and also have considerable financial resources
Football Insider revealed that Neil, 18, could be the latest highly prized youngster to quit Sunderland this summer.

Talent spotters believe the goalscoring central midfielder is capable of making the step up from Under-23s football to playing in the Premier League.
Neil is available this window for a six-figure fee that would be paid to Sunderland for his training and development costs.
Neil has yet to play for the Sunderland first team but was a regular for their Under-23s before the March lockdown.
He has already played 29 matches at that level after being a regular goalscorer from midfield for the Under-18s.
Josh Maja has led a stampede of rising stars quitting Sunderland in the last two years, with Balu Mumba joining Norwich City, Sam Greenwood to Arsenal, Luca Stephenson to Liverpool and Logan Pye and Joe Hugill to Man United.
