Clarke’s Rocky Start at Portman Road
Leicester City is keeping a close watch on Jack Clarke as the winger grapples with a challenging stint at Ipswich Town. The 23-year-old joined the Tractor Boys for a hefty Β£18 million from Sunderland in August, but his performances have yet to impress.
Transfer Complications Loom
While Leicester is interested in bringing Clarke into their squad, the situation is complicated. Since he played for Sunderland at the beginning of the Championship season, he is ineligible to feature for a third club this season unless itβs on loan. However, Ipswich may be reluctant to loan him out to another team battling relegation.
Leicester’s Winger Options
Manager Steve Cooper has several pacey wingers at his disposal, including Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu. Other players like Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Jordan Ayew, Kasey McAteer, and Facundo Buenanotte also offer width. Yet, the addition of Clarke could provide much-needed depth to Leicester’s attacking options.
Clarke’s Journey So Far
Clarke began his career at Leeds United before moving to Tottenham in 2019. Despite the high-profile transfer, he did not make a Premier League appearance for Spurs and eventually signed with Sunderland in 2022 after a successful loan spell. During his time at Sunderland, he scored 27 goals in 94 games, but his transition to Ipswich has been far from smooth.

Disappointing Stats Highlight His Struggles
In his eight appearances this season, Clarke has primarily come off the bench, contributing just one assist and failing to score. Alarmingly, he has not recorded a single shot on target in 335 minutes of play. His latest outing saw him unable to impact the game during a 1-1 draw with Leicester, leaving Ipswich still seeking their first win of the season.
Relegation Battle Intensifies
With Ipswich currently in the relegation zone and Leicester hovering just above it, both clubs are under pressure to turn their fortunes around. Clarke’s future remains uncertain as Leicester continues to assess their options in the transfer market.
