LIVERPOOL are reportedly ready to let defender Ben Davies leave on loan this summer after signing him just a few months ago.
And Sheffield United are keen to take Davies, who joined the Reds in February for £1.6m from Preston, off of their hands, according to Goal.
Liverpool are open to let Davies leave on loan this summer with the Blades willing to take him in
But the Reds aren’t willing to let the 25-year-old go for good just yet and reportedly rejected the Blades attempt to add a buy option to the deal earlier this week, Goal claim.
Although they do acknowledge that the former Preston ace needs to get some regular playing time under his belt as he hasn’t played a single minute at Anfield since his arrival.
It’s likely the Englishman will get that with the Blades as their new boss, Slavisa Jokanovic, who took over from Chris Wilder in May is said to be a keen admirer of Davies.
United could use Davies’ robustness in their attempt to gain promotion to the Premier League next season.
And there’s more than enough room for him to fit in as the club usually employ three centre-backs in their system.
But the Blades are expected to face competition from Celtic and Bournemouth, who are also said to be interested in signing Davies.
Goal also reports that there’s another Prem side who may wade into the battle for his signature.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp initially brought Davies in to help plug the gaping hole in his injury ravaged defence in Liverpool’s failed title defence last season.
