Liverpool target Donyell Malen and Premier League-linked Denzel Dumfries are both set to leave PSV Eindhoven this summer, the Dutch club’s manager has revealed.
The pair have both impressed at Euro 2020 with Netherlands, whose major tournament journey was ended by a shock defeat to Czech Republic on Sunday.
Liverpool are reportedly already in talks over a deal for Malen, who managed two assists in four games at the Euro.
He ended the Eredivisie campaign with 19 goals and eight assists in 32 matches, and 27 goals in all competitions – PSV’s top scorer as they finished runners-up to champions Ajax.
Full-back-cum-winger Dumfries has been linked with a number of clubs in England after his standout performances this summer.
The 25-year-old earned two man of the match awards as the Netherlands finished top of their group, managing two goals and one assist.
Everton have been the most strongly linked with an interest in the ace, who reportedly has a release clause of £12.8million (€15m).
And PSV manager Roger Schmidt has admitted he is resigned to both stars leaving his team this summer and clubs begin to circle.
“That’s how it goes in football, especially at PSV, we lose one or two good players every year,” he told Dutch outlet NOS.
“It has been clear to me for some time that Donyell and Denzel are likely to leave. Actually last summer.
“I also take it into account and if they do stay, that is great. But we have to prepare ourselves that we will have to play without both next season.”
Sky Sport Germany have claimed Liverpool are in discussions to sign Malen, who is valued at around £34million.
The 22-year-old’s stock has risen significantly since he was sold from Arsenal to PSV for just £540,000 in 2017.
Malen joined the Gunners as a teenager from Ajax in 2015, but failed to make a senior appearance for the first-team, before returning to his homeland.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp looks set to bolster his attacking options as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will be away on Africa Cup of Nations duty midway through the 2021/22 campaign.
With the uncertain futures of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi, Malen would be welcome arrival at Anfield.
Malen, who is able to play as a winger or central striker, could also ease the pressure on Roberto Firmino to score goals for Liverpool.
For Dumfries, his goals at Euro 2020 were his first for his country, and came seven years after his previous international goal – for Aruba against Guam in amateur football.
Having been overlooked as a youngster, the 25-year-old is now on the radar of some European giants, with reports claiming Inter Milan and Bayern Munich have joined Everton in the chase.
