Man City legend David Silva in shock transfer talks with Serie A side Lazio

LAZIO have made a shock swoop for Manchester City legend David Silva on a free transfer.

The 34-year-old Spaniard received an emotional send off at the Etihad when he was subbed off in the final stages of Sunday’s 5-0 thrashing over Norwich.

That was his 309th and final Premier League appearance for the club after a decade of service that delivered four titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups and icon status for the attacker.

Now AS claims that Serie A’s surprise package of the season have made their move to convince the veteran to continue playing at the top level.

Silva was believed to be mulling over a money-spinning move to the Middle East.

Both Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai or Al-Nasr Dubai had made him offers to finish his career with them.

Now after declining the chance to stay with City, he has a big decision to make over whether to head to the UAE or Italy.

Lazio are believed to have opened negotiations on Monday with today’s report stating there is “a will on both sides” to reach an agreement.

Manager Simone inzaghi has led the club to a shock title challenge this term.

And he wants the experienced playmaker to help him develop the next step of his project.

Despite waving goodbye to the English top-flight, Silva is still a City player for another month.

He agreed a short-term extension in order to appear in the restarted Champions League tournament next month.

The Cityzens go into their last-16 second-leg tie at home to Real Madrid next Friday with a 2-1 advantage from the first game.
