Man United in advanced talks to seal new Henderson deal

Man United are in advanced talks with Dean Henderson over agreeing a new deal, Football Insider can reveal.

The Premier League giants are making excellent progress in tying the goalkeeper, 23, down to a long-term contract to fend off strong Chelsea interest.

A United source has told Football Insider that discussions have accelerated since the Premier League season ended and there has been a breakthrough in recent days.

All parties are now confident that Henderson will sign a blockbuster new contract in the coming weeks that will include a massive pay rise.

United have made it a priority to keep hold of the keeper after two outstanding seasons on loan at Sheffield United.

This site broke the news last month that Chelsea have set their sights on a big-money summer move for Henderson as they look to recruit a new number one to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.

But United told the London club they do not want to sell Henderson to a top-four rival.

Instead, they have been in discussions to reward a player who has yet to make an appearance for United but his value has rocketed to in excess of £40million.

His form for Chris Wilder’s side has placed him on the verge of an England call-up and led to suggestions he may displace Jordan Pickford as the national team’s number one.

Henderson’s current United contract runs until 2022 and the club have offered to extend that by several years as well as hand him a huge pay rise.

He may still go out on loan again next season as David De Gea is the long-established United number one, with impressive Argentine Sergio Romero providing quality back-up.

In other Man United news, it can be REVEALED the club are plotting a shock move to sign 28-year-old on a free transfer.
