MASON GREENWOOD’S scorching form will “soon” earn the 18-year-old an England call-up, says Manchester United team-mate Jesse Lingard.
Striker Greenwood‘s 19-goal season has got even hotter post-lockdown as he outscores Old Trafford legends George Best and Wayne Rooney at the same age.
While Mason Greenwood has gone from strength to strength after lockdown, Jesse Lingard has been struggling to get in the Man Utd team
And Lingard says the teenager always looked destined for greatness.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates Greenwood the best natural finisher he has worked with.
So it seems certain the former England Under-21 star will step up into Gareth Southgate’s senior squad, well in time for the delayed Euros next summer.
Midfielder Lingard said: “Obviously the way he is playing at the moment, helping the team and scoring goals and if he keeps doing that I am sure the call will come soon.

“Mason Greenwood has been brilliant ever since he started training with the first team and he has done exceptionally well.
“Even though he is so young he has taken the reins and brought goals and assists and he has been a really good addition to the team.”
Greenwood appears sure to keep his starting place when United visit Leicester for Sunday’s vital Premier League finale.

The fifth-placed Foxes must win to leapfrog Solskjaer’s men into the Champions League spots.
For Lingard, though, the campaign has drifted downhill while Greenwood’s has surged upwards.
There has even been talk of Lingard departing Old Trafford this summer, with Arsenal amongst the clubs linked with the 24-cap England star, 27.
