MANCHESTER UNITED have been offered the chance to sign Willian on a free transfer, according to reports.
The Chelsea winger, 31, was out of contract at Stamford Bridge on June 30 but today agreed to extend his deal until the end of the Premier League campaign.
Premier League clubs wishing to tie their out-of-contract players down until the revised end date must do so by the end of today.
But while Willian will stick around for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign, he and Pedro will leave for nothing later in the summer.
And according to the Daily Mail, the Brazilian’s name was handed to Manchester United in case they wanted to snap him up.
The Red Devils, though, are expected to pass on the opportunity to bring in the two-time Premier League champion.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to build a young, British squad with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish primary targets.
And therefore veteran winger Willian, despite his trophy-winning experience and no price tag, does not fit the criteria.
Arsenal were put off making a move for him due to his big contract demands but a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho at Tottenham could still be on the cards.
Willian has picked up five major honours since joining Chelsea in 2013.
In that time, the former Shakhtar Donetsk and Anzhi Makhachkala star has scored 59 goals in 330 appearances across all competitions and is a popular figure in SW6.
Before leaving, though, he could still have a big part to play for the Blues.
They remain in a battle to secure Champions League football with Manchester United, Wolves and Sheffield United hot on their tails.
And this weekend they travel to Leicester for their rearranged FA Cup quarter-final clash with a trip to Wembley on the cards for the winners.
