MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly joined neighbours Manchester City in the race to sign Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal.
Todofichajes report the Red Devils have shown an interest just weeks after City were first linked with the player.
Pep Guardiola‘s side have been monitoring the 23-year-old in the wake of Leroy Sane’s £55million move to Bayern Munich.
But now United could hijack a potential transfer for the Spanish international.
The report indicates Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in some reinforcements on the flanks.
The club have been very strongly linked with a move for City academy product and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho – but Oyarzabal could be another more affordable option.

The wideman has a £64m release clause in his contract, which runs until 2024.
But United chiefs are believed to be confident of negotiating a cut-price deal in the region of £45m.
City could step up their interest in the player as a result of United entering the fray.
Oyarzabal has been involved in 21 goals in 35 La Liga appearances this season.
After bagging ten league goals, 11 assists and regularly captaining his side, Oyarzabal could be an ideal replacement for Jesse Lingard.
Lingard looks set to be heading for the exit at Old Trafford after being left out of multiple matchday squads and featuring in just one FA Cup game since action restarted.
Promotion hopefuls West Brom and relegation-threatened West Ham have been linked with the 27-year-old who has one year left on his deal.
