Manchester City could be tipping over a move for Bradley Barcola as they look for attacking reinforcements, with Lyon demanding €40m.
According to Le Parisien via Sport Witness, Manchester City are keen on Bradley Barcola, who could end up costing at least €40m. Lyon’s financial situation could end up selling the attacker, but they could only do so at the asking price.
Bradley Barcola has had a breakthrough season in Lyon and has impressed greatly with his performances. Five goals and nine assists in 26 games have been enough to pique the interest of some of the top clubs, although any move away would only materialize due to certain factors.
Manchester City are keen on Barcola but just needed attacking reinforcements after recent events unfolded. Pep Guardiola could predict some key departures from his squad, which needs to be strengthened.
Riyad Mahrez has agreed to join Al Ahli, and Guardiola has to replace the Algerians in the squad. Meanwhile, there is also the possibility of Bernardo Silva leaving the club, which could force the manager to bring in a big-name signing in his place.

They have already earmarked Raphinha to replace Mahrez, but any deal with Barcelona will be expensive. Therefore, they could have turned to Barcola, but they will have to spend 40 million euros to sign the striker. Lyon are in no rush to sell him right now, but he is under the watch of the DGCG, which could force them to raise more funds.
Manchester City could chart a path for Barcola to thrive in the coming years, as the 20-year-old is unlikely to turn down Guardiola’s overtures. The coach hopes that Barcola will have a similar path to that of Julián Álvarez and achieve unprecedented success.
Meanwhile, they will focus their efforts on bringing Yorko Gvardiol, with the deal complicated in recent days. Various reports have given conflicting information about the centre-back’s future, but Guardiola is keen to replace him as Aymeric Laporte’s replacement.
As for Barcola, he will find the prospect of joining Manchester City tempting, but any move will depend on Lyon’s stance on the asking price.
