Manchester City table renewal offer until 2027 for €80 million-rated Barcelona target

With the future of Bernardo Silva once again the subject of speculation this summer, Manchester City are working hard to retain their talismanic midfielder, who is on the radars of Barcelona, PSG and Al Hilal.

The 28-year-old Portuguese international has been Barca’s dream target for some time and the La Liga champions have gone ahead and sparked interest again this summer.

Bernardo himself dreams of playing for Barcelona and his agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to facilitate a move for him.

Amidst this, however, Manchester City have tabled a new contract bid for the versatile midfielder in a bid to tie him down to the Etihad.

In fact, according to reports relayed by Mundo Deportivo, the Premier League and European champions have tabled a proposal for a renewal until 2027 for their key man.

Silva is undoubtedly one of the main components of Pep Guardiola’s setup. And it makes sense that they would try to retain their services for a longer period, especially with widespread interest in their services.

As previously mentioned, Barcelona are very keen to sign Silva, although the Catalans’ financial situation would make the deal almost impossible unless there are big departures from the club in the coming weeks.

As previously reported, the former AS Monaco man is also wanted by PSG and Al Hilal. The latter could offer him a lucrative contract but he prefers to continue in Europe. And although he prefers Barça, the economic reality of the club means that Paris can be a realistic destination.

Either way, Manchester City are not going down without a fight and are trying to keep Silva at the club by offering him an extension until 2027. His current contract expires in 2025. It remains to be seen what the Portuguese ace decides, but a move to Barcelona could once again elude him as things stand.
