Middlesbrough are plotting a move to sign striker Armand Gnanduillet on a free transfer this summer, Football Insider understands.
The 28-year-old is currently out of contract after he left Blackpool at the start of July and is viewed as one of the best free agents in the EFL as a result of his impressive goalscoring record.
A source at the Riverside has told Football Insider that Boro have set their sights on signing the French striker as they look to bolster their attacking options for next season.
Gnanduillet, who first joined the Tangerines back in August 2016, finished the 2019/20 campaign with 18 goals to his name and has scored a total of 32 times over the last two seasons.
He has played over 100 times in both League One and League Two after he initially moved to England to join Chesterfield in 2013.
Middlesbrough, who finished last season as the lowest scorers in the Championship, are in the hunt to strengthen their forward line and view Gnanduillet as someone who could make the step up and offer good value for money.

Boro netted just 48 times in 46 league games last term with Ashley Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga their top scorers with 11 goals apiece.
Warnock, who was confirmed to be staying on as the Boro’s manager for next season in July, is in the market for another centre forward after Lucas Nmecha returned to Manchester City following his loan spell.
Boro have already bolstered their defence with the addition of Grant Hall after he left QPR on a free transfer.
In other Middlesbrough news, it can be REVEALED whether Boro or QPR are set to win the fight to sign a £1million defender.
