Premier League transfer news: West Ham ‘serious’ about signing Youssef En-Nesyri but Sevilla tell Hammers to pay extra £9million in January

West Ham are ‘serious’ about signing Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri as they seek a replacement for Sebastien Haller.

However, the Spanish club have reportedly told West Ham they’re almost £9million short of their valuation if they want to buy the player this month.

Although Michail Antonio has done a fine job this season, West Ham have been without a recognised striker in their senior squad since Haller joined Ajax earlier this month.

It’s understood the east London side have identified Morocco international En-Nesyri, 23, as Haller’s replacement and had tabled a €30m offer, which is approximately £26.7m.

However, this falls short of Sevilla’s value for their player.

Marca reports, via Sport Witness, that West Ham must shell out €40m if they want to sign him this month, which means paying roughly an additional £8.9m.

The report also says West Ham have previously proposed clauses which would trigger based on things such as Champions League qualification, and it’s unlikely Sevilla would go for that.

For now it’s up to Antonio to be West Ham’s goalscorer-in-chief and he did exactly that with the decisive strike against Burnley last weekend.

After the 1-0 victory, Hammers boss David Moyes suggested that signing a Haller replacement may not be necessary.

He said: “Micky was very good for someone just coming back from injury.

“He’s shown a great level of robustness in the last six months and hopefully we can get him back up to that. If he can regain the form of those previous months that would be a big thing.

“We’ve already made enquiries for players at clubs, it’s not as if we’re not trying, but I need players who can make a difference. If not I’ll use the young players or find someone else in the squad.”
