Alan Hutton has backed a potential change of formation from Steven Gerrard at Rangers this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Gers full-back believes the quality in the squad has improved significantly and there are players battling for a place all over the pitch.
As quoted by the Herald, Gerrard hinted he could change tactics to a 3-5-2 formation thanks to the quality in depth in at both centre-back and centre-forward.
The Gers boss has the likes of Filip Helander and Calvin Bassey waiting in the wings in defence, while Kemar Roofe, Jermain Defoe and Cedric Itten could join Alfredo Morelos up top.
Hutton believes a change of formation could work wonders for the Glasgow giants and insists he would be fully behind the switch.
Asked if he liked the sound of a 3-5-2 at Ibrox, Hutton told Football Insider: “I do, I think defensively they’re strong, they’ve got some big centre-halves that can cope with that.
