Rangers will pull off some “decent business” if they find a new club for Jordan Jones this summer, according to Noel Whelan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Aberdeen striker claimed even a loan move would make sense for the Scottish giants as it would help pay the winger’s wages.
Jones has struggled to make an impact at Ibrox since his free transfer from Kilmarnock last summer.
The Daily Record report that Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Stoke City are all interested in the 25-year-old after he was told by Gerrard he has no future at Rangers.
Whelan is in no doubt that it makes sense for all parties for Jones to find a new side, even temporarily.
“It would be a massive bonus, it’s decent business for everyone,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“For the player, it costs you absolutely nothing but to get a little bit of money back from him or even if it’s a loan deal and getting some of the wages paid.
“It’s a win-win for Rangers really, for the player he knows what he needs to do – he needs to go out there and play football.”
Jones has played just 14 times across all competitions since joining Rangers and has not recovered from the knee injury and red card sustained with his wild lunge against Celtic last September.
His place in the pecking order was made clear on Saturday when he failed to make even the nine-man bench for the 1-0 opening day win at Aberdeen.
