Sir Alex Ferguson attends first Man Utd game since restart… but fans fear he’s not wearing his Covid-19 mask properly

SIR ALEX FERGUSON attended his first Manchester United game since the restart – but fans feared he was not wearing his face mask correctly.

The legendary gaffer rocked up to Old Trafford on Monday night for United’s 2-2 draw against Southampton.

Fans pointed out Sir Alex Ferguson was not wearing his face mask properly at Old Trafford

Like everyone else in attendance for the thrilling game, Fergie maintained social distancing protocols and also sported a face mask.

However, during the first half he was snapped wearing his mask under his nose.

It is advised by the government that a face mask covers not just your mouth but your nose as well.

And fans couldn’t believe they what they were seeing at the Theatre of Dreams.

One wrote: “Suppose it’s difficult to wear a mask correctly.”

Another said: “Sure that mask is meant to be covering his lovely nose.”

One exclaimed: “Seriously, someone please tell him about his mask.”

Another added: “Put the mask your nose Fergie.”

It appears Sir Alex heeded advice by later pulling his mask higher up his face to cover his nose for the rest of the first half.

Fergie is regarded by many as the greatest manager of all time, having won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions Leagues during a 26-year reign at Old Trafford.

Indeed, Fergie had been itching to get back to the Theatre of Dreams for a live game after football was halted and then drastically changed due to the coronavirus crisis.

A source told the Mirror yesterday: “Alex has been enjoying the recent weeks of football’s return and the way United have emerged from lockdown.

“For someone still full of energy, he’s not at his best cooped up and is looking forward to returning to Old Trafford when it’s safe to do so.

“But he’s been delighted the way Solskjaer is managing the team and I believe they have spoken a couple of times in the last few weeks.

“He’s especially heartened by the emergence of the younger players like Scott McTominay and Mason Greenwood.

“He managed United for an awful long time during good times and bad so he knows it’s not an easy job, particularly when things aren’t going well.

“He knows Ole is showing the grit and determination needed but also the bravery to make hard decisions.”
