Sneijder’s Scathing Remarks
Wesley Sneijder, the former star of Real Madrid and Inter Milan, has taken aim at Sergio Busquets, branding him a “crybaby” and a “whiner.” Reflecting on their heated encounters from years past, Sneijder didn’t hold back in his criticism.
Memories of Champions League Drama
During a recent interview with Ziggo Sports, Sneijder recalled a particularly frustrating moment during the 2010 Champions League semi-final. He recounted how Busquets’ antics on the pitch often left him exasperated. “He was an extremely annoying player,” Sneijder said, highlighting how Busquets would dish out taunts but struggled to handle it when the tables were turned.
The Infamous Tackle Incident
The tension peaked in the second leg of that memorable semi-final when Thiago Motta tackled Busquets. Sneijder vividly remembered the scene: “After eight minutes, Busquets started rolling on the ground while looking through his hands to see if Motta had a red card. He then got up again and was fine, the crybaby. A nasty guy to play against,” he remarked.
A Rivalry Beyond the Pitch
Sneijder also reflected on the numerous confrontations he had with Busquets throughout their matches. His frustration was so intense that he even warned Busquets about a potential meeting in Ibiza, saying, “I’ll see you in Ibiza in the summer, then you and I will talk again.”

Inter Milan’s Triumph
That season, under the management of Jose Mourinho, Inter Milan managed to defeat Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona, a team often hailed as one of the greatest in football history. Sneijder’s side went on to achieve a historic Treble, marking a significant milestone in Italian football.
A Contrast in Careers
While Sneijder has since retired, he praised his former rival Andres Iniesta for his contributions to the game. Meanwhile, Busquets continues to make headlines, currently playing in Major League Soccer alongside Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
