Solskjaer set for 100th game as Man Utd boss vs Arsenal boasting a BETTER record than Ferguson but way off Mourinho

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER is set to take charge of his 100th Manchester United game this weekend – and is already showing Sir Alex Ferguson how it should be done.

But while the Norwegian’s win rate is OK, it’s nowhere near as good as Jose Mourinho’s.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have an impressive record after his first 100 games in charge at Man Utd

Solskjaer will chalk up his ton when the Red Devils welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on Sunday.

And whatever the result, he will still rank well above United’s legendary manager Fergie when comparing their first 100 matches.

Solskjaer has 55 wins, 21 draws and 23 defeats from his opening 99 games.

And Fergie only managed 48 wins, 31 draws and 21 defeats from one game more.

The Scot, who took the over in November 1986, went on to become the club’s greatest ever leader and his legend will live on for generations to come.

But he had a troubled start to life at Old Trafford and was nearly sacked in the early days before a 1990 FA Cup victory against Nottingham Forest saved his bacon.

Solskjaer ranks third in the list of United managers after 100 games.

Mourinho comes in second with a 62 per cent win record – six per cent better than the Norwegian’s.

Which is two behind Ernest Mangnall, who managed the Reds between 1903 and 1912.

Louis van Gaal, Sir Matt Busby and Ron Atkinson make up the spots between Solskjaer and Ferguson with very similar win rates to each other.

Solskjaer took the hotseat from Mourinho as caretaker in December 2018 before singing a permanent three-year deal in March 2019.

Speaking ahead of the Gunners clash, the 47-year-old said: “I’m surprised it’s 100 games.

“It’s gone really quickly and a lot has happened, so let’s hope I can celebrate with a good result.

“Arsenal is always going to be difficult, because they are a very good team with a good manager and I’m looking forward to it.”
