Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho hoping to be reunited with Chelsea star Kurt Zouma as he asks board to launch transfer move

JOSE MOURINHO wants Tottenham’s top bods to help him seal a summer swoop for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

The Spurs boss, who landed Zouma for the Blues during his time in charge of the club, hopes to reunite with the player he bought for £12million.

Jose Mourinho hopes Tottenham’s board will give the green light to a move for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma

Zouma, 25, could be set for a reunion with boss Jose Mourinho with Tottenham rumoured to be planning a move for the French international

The France centre-back, who’s been a part of the Blues squad since joining from Saint Etienne in 2014, enjoyed two successful loan spells at Stoke and Everton.

Although Frank Lampard made more use of the 25-year-old’s defensive talents this season, the player looks to be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit.

Media outlets in France claim Mourinho has been in talks with Tottenham’s board over a possible move for Zouma.

And while the North Londoners are yet to make a formal bid, RMC Sport suggests Chelsea are open to the idea of selling their powerhouse defender.

Earlier this year Zouma revealed Mourinho once told him he was “rubbish” to his face after a disappointing 3-1 away loss during his tenure as Chelsea boss.

The France international told documentary makers that while Mourinho’s sharp words “shocked” him, it gave him the motivation to improve his game.

Zouma told RMC Sport: “I cannot remember which match we were playing, we were losing 3-1, away from home.

“The following day, he catches up with me, he takes me to his office, and he asks me if I am okay.

“I said yes, he asked me if I was sure. I said yes again, he replied: ‘Because you were rubbish this weekend’.

“It shocked me but it made me want to immediately respond (on the pitch).”

Should Tottenham press ahead with a move for Zouma, it’s believed no business will be done before the end of the current season.

It’s likely the defender, who’s made 22 league appearances so far this term, could attract other suitors.
