Tottenham Hotspur interested in Antonio Silva

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have shown interest in SL Benfica defender Antonio Silva

According to Portuguese channel A Bola (a/t Liverpool Echo), Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have shown interest in the profile of 19-year-old Portuguese sensation Antonio Silva, whose explosive rise in Liga Nos has seen him FIFA World. Portugal Cup selection.

SL Benfica have been outstanding this season in the league and in Europe and in fact topped their UEFA Champions League group which included heavyweights Paris St Germain and Juventus.

It is no small thing for a club of Benfica’s size and resources which, in addition to the victories, has been doing it all by playing sensational and eye-catching football.

Silva is right at the heart of Benfica’s defense and his rare performances have earned him plaudits, with former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher a huge admirer of the player and hailing him as a “future superstar”.

It wasn’t just a year ago that Silva exercised his profession at the subsidiary of SL Benfica. From debuting with the first team to consolidating his position as a starter in the club’s most important matches, it has been quite a year for the young defender.

Adding that he made it to the World Cup and made his debut in the tournament against South Korea shows the belief and confidence of the top management in the player and the huge ceiling he possesses.

Spurs have registered an early interest in the player, followed by Liverpool and two unnamed Serie A sides, but for now, it’s a deal that looks quite difficult as the player’s current deal expires in 2027 ( Transfermarkt).

Benfica would be aware of the special talent they have on their hands and who, in the future, does have the potential to prompt a large transfer fee similar to that of Joao Felix, Rubén Dias and, more recently, Darwin Núñez.

For now, it will be a nice ride to see the progression of the youngster who still has a lot to learn but is at the perfect stage and league to allow him to grow to his potential without a lot of added pressure.
