Tottenham news: Bourenmouth launch move to sign Carter-Vickers

Bournemouth have submitted a loan bid for Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, Football Insider can reveal.

The Championship outfit have made a move for the USA centre-back, 22, as they look to strengthen in defence ahead of the new season.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Carter-Vickers has been told to find a new club before the window shuts on 5 October.

He is surplus to requirements in north London and has entered the final nine months of his contract.

Tottenham value the American at around the £2.5million mark after previously asking for £5m for him in the summer of 2019.

But powerhouse centre-back could now be headed for what would be a loan spell at a sixth different Championship club.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier this summer, Luton Town are keen on signing Carter-Vickers permanently after his impressive loan last season.

But his price and wages make a deal difficult for the cash-conscious second-tier side.

Carter-Vickers is highly regarded by Championship clubs despite making only four senior Spurs appearances.

He started Luton’s last 14 matches last season as they survived after winning three of their final four games.

Tottenham, would prefer to get the versatile defender, who has a contract that runs until the summer of 2021, off their wage bill with a full-time move.

Carter-Vickers joined Luton on loan after falling out of favour at Stoke City, where he had spent the first half of last season.

He had spent the previous two seasons on loan at Swansea City, Ipswich Town and Sheffield United.

In other Tottenham news, a major Ryan Sessegnon transfer development can be revealed.
