Tottenham news: Phillips makes Rhian Brewster claim after transfer update

Kevin Phillips has tipped Tottenham striker Troy Parrott to have a similar impact at Millwall to that of Rhian Brewster at Swansea last season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Sunderland and Southampton forward, claimed that the style of football played by the Lions will suit the 18-year-old.

Spurs confirmed the deal a week ago, 48 hours after Football Insider had exclusively revealed that an agreement had been reached.

The teenage striker will join up with Gary Rowett’s side later this month to begin pre-season, with the Championship set to kick-off on 12 September.

Phillips, who was Rowett’s assistant while at Stoke City in 2018, revealed that Parrott would be given lots of one-to-one coaching while at The Den.

“Having worked with Gaz, he does a lot of individual work with players and a lot of positional work,” he told Football Insider. “I know for a fact that the kid will get a lot of one-to-one coaching.

“He has certainly got ability and we said earlier in the year that we would like to see more of him.

“From what I hear and what I have seen, the style of football Millwall are playing it will suit Parrott really well.

“It might be like Brewster at Swansea, he did really well and I think Millwall will be the ideal club for Troy to go and put his name on the map.”

Liverpool’s Brewster spent the last six months at Swansea where he scored 11 goals in 22 appearances as the Welsh side narrowly missed out on the Championship play-off final.

The 20-year-old has now returned to Anfield and Danny Mills told Football Insider that he may now be ahead of Divock Origi in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED the club are plotting a sensational deal to re-sign a former favourite.
