Paul Robinson has suggested that the arrival of Joe Hart at Tottenham Hotspur could lead to the departure of fellow goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Jason Jones, the former Spurs stopper hailed the move for the ex-England number one, claiming that he will add “vital” experience to Jose Mourinho’s dressing room.
As revealed by Football Insider, the 33-year-old has agreed terms on a two-year deal and is expected to be unveiled as a Tottenham player imminently.
And Robinson believes that his signing could force 28-year-old Gazzaniga through the exit door.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “He [Hart] has accepted that new role as a number two, like he did at Burnley, so he’s not going to expect to play, although I do think he’ll come in and get some games.
“Spurs are going to be competing on all fronts next year, coming into the Europa League very early because Arsenal won the FA Cup, so there’s going to be an opportunity for him to play games at the top level. If he’s got his head around being a number two, or even a number three, you can see it really working for him.
