Tottenham news: Robinson wowed by big Son contract update

Son Heung-min deserves “every single penny” of his prospective new £200,000-a-week deal at Tottenham, according to Paul Robinson.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former White Hart Lane number one claimed that the 28-year-old has been “outstanding” from the very first day he joined the club both on and off the field.

This site revealed on Friday that Spurs had offered the Korean a blockbuster new contract worth £200,000-a-week plus performance-related bonuses.

Son still has three years remaining on his current agreement having last penned an extension in the summer of 2018.

The forward’s nine appearances this season have yielded a remarkable 10 goals, one of which was the winner at Turf Moor on Monday night.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the forward’s future, Robinson said:

“It’s amazing news for Spurs if he signs a new deal.

“He has been outstanding from the first day he walked into the building.

“He brightens up the place when he comes through the door and his performances on the pitch match his attitude off it. He is brilliant to have around the club. Son is always happy, always smiling and always has time for people.

“He has been as good if not better at times than Harry Kane.

“Over the years he has made himself one of the first names on the team sheet because he is so consistent. He deserves every single penny of his new contract.”
